Zombieland Sequel Closer To Happening

2009’s Zombieland made a lot of money and was generally well-received. A sequel has been brewing for a while now, and now writer Paul Wernick says it’s almost close to finally getting started.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Wernick said he and his writing partner Rhett Reese–who also wrote Deadpool–are big fans of sequels. Zombieland is no exception.

“If you look at our filmography you know we love the sequel,” he told the site. “And we’re in the midst of Deadpool 2 right now. Zombieland 2 sits on the horizon with a hopeful greenlight coming relatively soon.”

A pilot for a Zombieland TV show was produced for Amazon, but it did not get picked up to a full series.

2009’s Zombieland was directed by Ruben Fleischer and starred Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, and Abigial Breslin. Veteran actor Bill Murray appeared in the movie, too.

There is no word yet on the plot for Zombieland 2, nor do we know if the main cast from the first movie will be back. We’ll report back with more details as they become available.
