The British couple welcomed its first child together on 22 March (17), but they weren’t sure about what to call their tot immediately after he was born, and sources have revealed the first-time parents have finally settled on a name – Bear Payne.
“They love their little baby Bear Payne and are truly over the moon and loving being parents for the first time together,” an insider tells U.K. newspaper The Sun.
Apparently Liam and Cheryl decided not to go the traditional route with the naming process so as to ensure the moniker they gave little Bear would truly suit his personality.
“Cheryl and Liam wanted to get to know their baby before deciding on a name,” the source details. “They didn’t have the name Bear before the birth but they’d been thinking of a name since meeting him and they just felt it suited him.”
Cheryl and Liam aren’t the only British celebrity parents who have adopted the name Bear. Actress Kate Winslet and her husband, Ned Rocknroll, named their son Bear Blaze after he was born in 2013.
The wild moniker has also spread to America – Clueless star Alicia Silverstone named her boy Bear Blu after welcoming him into the family in May, 2011.
Meanwhile, on the heels of becoming a first-time dad, Liam is preparing to revamp his music career, with rumours suggesting he is ready to drop his first single as a solo artist within weeks. He will be following in the footsteps of his bandmates Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, and Harry Styles, who released his debut solo offering, Sign of the Times, last month (Apr17).
